Coach Wallace Served with Prestigious Award

Caleb Griffis, Editor

Last week Kara Wallace, head coach of the Flour Bluff Lady Hornet Volleyball team, was named Texas Volleyball Insiders Statewide Coach of the Week.

Under the coaching of Wallace, the Lady Hornets have begun the season with a 23-6 record. Wallace has been the head coach of the Flour Bluff Lady Hornet Volleyball team for 13 years. For the last four years, the Lady Hornets have been regional semi-finalists, and they plan to continue that tradition this season.

In the Lady Hornets’ 2020 season, Wallace led the team to an undefeated season, and a district championship, and in 2021, the Lady Hornets were 34-6 overall and 13-3 in their district.

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the Lady Hornets began district play against the King Lady Mustangs in which they finished the game 3-0 after fierce competition from both teams.

“I think coach Wallace’s coaching has been phenomenal,” said Tyler Bills, the Flour Bluff High School Sports Information Technologist, “…she’s always talking about how to stay humble, and she always has the Lady Hornets ready for every competition, every Tuesday and Friday.”

The Lady Hornets are set to face the Carroll Lady Tigers at home on Friday, Sept. 23. Good luck to the Lady Hornets, and congratulations to Coach Kara Wallace on receiving the Texas Volleyball Insider Sports Impact Coach of the Week award.
